Redefining Failure

June 02, 20252 min read

Let’s travel through time for a second.

Lets start by asking this question to ourselves-  What if everything works out the way you imagine or plan?

Whether that is getting to 1-derland and seeing that number on the scale...

Or wearing those fave pair of jeans that you have in your closet...

Or hitting that goal weight you had imagined...

Or being able to stand tall among your friends and family and just feeling confident about yourself- about what you have done, what you have achieved in your weight loss goals

Let's imagine that moment for a second...  Keep that picture in your mind.

Do you feel your heart swell and did you smile thinking about it?   Allow yourself this moment for a second

What if everything works out in the end?  Everything you have always dreamed of when it comes to your weight and health is realized and happening.  All the things you imagined your new weight will give you.

Now go back to yesterday.

Did you have a setback? Did you not meet your protein and fiber goals?

Did you not meet your movement goals?

Did you eat cake because you were stressed?

Can you look at the "failures' ' of yesterday and juxtapose it against the firm belief in that future You and the picture you just had in your head.

How do you look at said "failure"

Did you

  1. berate yourself. get upset at yourself. said mean things to yourself or

  2. did the realization that this "setback" is part of the process and nothing to fear coz you know you will get to that goal regardless. Are you able to treat yourself with the voice of compassion as opposed to the inner critic?

Think back to any successful venture you had. your business is a success for example. Do you remember the early days of your business? how were you not sure if things were going to work out? and look at where you are now... if your current You can go back in time to your younger you and give advice re your business, what will you say about that 1 failure, about that 1 misstep?

Or a personal triumph, something hard. like living thru covid. Do you remember the early days of the unknown and the stress of it all?

"Failure" is part of the process

You can redefine failure if you look at the big picture

and own the success of the future You.

Our ability to keep going stems from how we treat ourselves

Are we leading ourselves from a place of negativity and pain

Or compassion and understanding.

Just keep walking. 1 day at a time.
